Key Responsibilities: Patient Assessment & Care: Practice nurses conduct comprehensive health assessments, take patient histories, and monitor vital signs. Immunizations & Vaccinations: They administer childhood and travel immunizations, and stay updated on evolving vaccination protocols. Chronic Disease Management: Practice nurses play a crucial role in managing chronic conditions like diabetes, asthma, and COPD through monitoring, education, and support. Wound Care: They provide wound care services, including dressing changes, wound assessment, and infection control. Health Promotion & Education: Practice nurses educate patients on various health topics, promoting healthy lifestyles and preventative care. Care Coordination: They coordinate patient care, liaising with other healthcare professionals, specialists, and community services as needed. Minor Surgical Procedures: Some practice nurses assist with or perform minor surgical procedures, such as removing stitches or moles.
