Assistant farm Manager rearing and laying Dealesville

Description of Duties
Assist the Farm Managers on both the rearing and laying sides of the farm with the following:
Ensure all livestock is treated humanely and in compliance with company standards.
Coach employees to help them develop an understanding of the requirements relating to animal welfare, food safety, and quality standards.
Involve the team by encouraging and motivating them to deliver safety excellence and promote risk awareness by following safety rules and identifying risks.
Drive improvements in flock performance, point of lay cost (PoLC), health, and animal welfare (up to 21 weeks). Conduct post-mortems and report findings to the Senior Area Operations Manager and Group Veterinarian.
Record and monitor weekly husbandry parameters.
Reduce turnover and ensure labor costs are optimized for productivity, efficiency, and competitiveness within the industry.
Manage, monitor, and maintain budgets, seeking approval for out-of-scope expenses.
Attend to HR matters, including planning hires and taking disciplinary measures.
Qualifications
A Matric qualification and a degree in Agriculture or a relevant field.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a management role within the broiler breeder sector.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
Strong analytical skills and the ability to generate operational reports while ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
An understanding of modern farming methods, animal welfare, and the environmental impact of farming.
A strong interest and knowledge of the agricultural and farming sector.
Excellent understanding of bird welfare, housekeeping, and attention to detail.
High proficiency in English.
Strong communication skills to engage at all levels of the business.
The ability to work on weekends and public holidays when required.
A valid driver’s license and own transportation.
