Description of Duties
NIGHT MANAGER OVERVIEW
The Night Manager oversees all Front Office operations during overnight shifts, ensuring compliance with hotel standards. This role involves directing staff, maintaining high service quality, and implementing management philosophies that guide team performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Compliance: Ensure adherence to departmental policies and service standards, consistently maintaining superior quality.
Guest Relations: Proactively anticipate and respond to guest needs, addressing complaints effectively to ensure satisfaction.
Work Environment Management: Monitor cleanliness and organization of work areas, ensuring all materials and equipment are ready for service.
Knowledge Maintenance: Stay informed about hotel features, room types, rates, and promotions, as well as daily occupancy and scheduled events.
Staff Coordination: Supervise staff performance, assign duties, and conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate relevant information.
Schedule Management: Prepare weekly work schedules based on staffing guidelines, ensuring appropriate coverage and addressing any attendance issues.
Performance Monitoring: Continuously evaluate staff performance, providing coaching and corrective feedback to uphold service excellence.
Communication Management: Oversee communication logs and ensure timely follow-up on guest requests.
Financial Oversight: Monitor and ensure compliance with cashiering procedures, managing deposits and financial transactions accurately.
Emergency Procedures: Adhere to safety protocols and manage emergency situations, ensuring the security of guestroom access.
Collaboration with Security: Direct security personnel to maintain a safe environment for guests and staff.
OTHER STANDARD RESPONSIBILITIES
Policy Adherence: Follow all company policies and budgetary guidelines.
Policy Development: Assist in creating and updating departmental policies and manuals to ensure compliance and consistency.
Recruitment and Training: Participate in recruitment efforts and lead talent development initiatives to meet departmental needs.
Brand Representation: Act as a brand ambassador, upholding the integrity and clarity of the hotel’s identity.
Cultural Leadership: Exemplify the company’s vision, mission, and core values in all actions.
Qualifications
• Experience: Minimum of two years as a Front Desk Agent, preferably in a luxury or ultra-luxury hotel; experience as a Night Manager is an advantage.
Education: High school diploma required; some college preferred.
Language: Proficiency in English is required; additional languages are a plus.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and perform various physical tasks while communicating effectively with guests and staff.
